Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification is a key element in clinical research, ensuring that clinical trials are conducted ethically, safely, and in accordance with international standards. This certification guarantees the protection of the rights, safety, and well-being of research participants, while also ensuring the validity of the data produced.
On 8 August 2024, three lecturers from the Department of Biomaterial Sciences (IBKG) at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), officially earned their GCP certification from NIDA Training (National Drug Abuse Treatment Clinical Trials Network). The lecturers who received the certification are Prof. Dr. drg. Siti Sunarintyas, M.Kes., Dr. drg. Dyah Irnawati, MS, and drg. Mutiara Annisa, MDSc. The certification was awarded after they completed an online training through the website gcp.nidatraining.org , which included a test on GCP principles.
“This certification is an important step for us to enhance the research capacity at IBKG,” said Prof. Siti Sunarintyas. “With this certification, we are ready to move forward in conducting clinical trials on products derived from the research developed in our department.”
drg. Mutiara Annisa, MDSc., also emphasized the significance of this certification, “By adhering to GCP standards, we can ensure that our research is not only safe and ethical but also meets international standards, allowing the results to be globally recognized.”
With this certification achievement, FKG UGM is contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG Goal 4 (Quality Education).
