Lecturers from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), participated in a training on apexification and root canal treatments on 20 January 2024, at Dentistry Thammasat University, Thailand.
The training was attended by drg. Rahmadani Puspitasari, MDSc., from the Department of Dental Conservation at FKG UGM, accompanied by Dr. drg. Yulita Kristanti, M.Kes., Sp.KG (K), and Dr. drg. Tunjung Nugraheni, M.Kes., Sp.KG (K). The hands-on training focused on apexification techniques for immature necrotic teeth and root canal treatments involving C-shaped anatomical variations.
Dr. Kriangkrai Pichamnankool, a lecturer from the Endodontics Department at Thammasat University, facilitated the session, allowing participants to exchange experiences and clinical knowledge related to apexification methods and complex root canal preparation techniques.
“This training is designed to provide practical insights into handling teeth with challenging anatomical variations, such as C-shaped root canals. We aim for participants to gain the skills needed to manage difficult endodontic cases with greater confidence,” said Dr. Kriangkrai.
Apexification techniques stimulate root development in incompletely matured teeth, while C-shaped root canal techniques address unique anatomical challenges often requiring specialized approaches. This training offers essential practical skills for managing complex endodontic cases.
The event supports SDG 4 (Quality Education), emphasizing the importance of high-quality education and training in dentistry. It also strengthens collaborative ties between educational institutions in Indonesia and Thailand, marking a significant step in advancing clinical skills and endodontic knowledge that can be widely applied in global dental practice.
