Yogyakarta, 10 December 2025 — The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), has once again been entrusted to host the National Competency Examination for Prosthodontic Dental Specialists (UKOM Prosthodontics) XXII, Period II of 2025. The opening ceremony was held at the Margono Soeradji Auditorium, FKG UGM, on Wednesday (10/12), and was attended by representatives of the Indonesian Prosthodontics College, the Competency Examination Commission, national examiners, and participants from various prosthodontic specialist education centers across Indonesia.
During this period, 20 participants took part in the examination, representing five institutions: Universitas Sumatera Utara (1 participant), Universitas Indonesia (8 participants), Universitas Hasanuddin (7 participants), and the host institution, FKG UGM (4 participants).
FKG UGM HOSTS FOR THE FOURTH TIME
The Chair of the Local Organizing Committee, Dr. drg. Sri Budi Barunawati, M.Kes., Sp.Pros., Subsp. PKIKG(K), stated that this year’s event is particularly significant as it marks the fourth time UGM has hosted the offline UKOM Prosthodontics, following previous implementations in 2011, 2017, and 2022. “Praise be to God, the organization has once again been entrusted to FKG UGM. We hope that the entire process runs smoothly and that all participants achieve the best possible results,” she said in her opening remarks.
This year’s UKOM was conducted fully offline and consisted of a Computer-Based Test (CBT), an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), and a Structured Oral Case Analysis (SOCA). The examinations took place from 10–12 December 2025, with remedial examinations scheduled for 12 December 2025.
INDONESIAN PROSTHODONTICS COLLEGE EMPHASIZES INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONALISM
The Chair of the Indonesian Prosthodontics College, Prof. Dr. drg. Ratna Sari Dewi, Sp.Pros., Subsp. PKIKG(K), emphasized that the National Competency Examination is not merely an academic process but a crucial milestone in ensuring the quality of future dental specialists. “This is where we verify the clinical competence, ethics, and professionalism of the participants. This examination does not only measure knowledge and skills, but also integrity and responsibility as future prosthodontists,” she stated in her official address.
Meanwhile, the Chair of the Competency Examination Commission, Dr. drg. Rasmi Rikmasari, Sp.Pros., Subsp. OGST(K), explained that question development and examiner training had been conducted well in advance to ensure the quality of the examination process. “We hope all participants can complete the examination calmly and carefully and achieve a passing result,” she said.

DEAN OF FKG UGM’S EXPECTATION: ALL PASS AND READY TO SERVE UNDERSERVED REGIONS
The Dean of FKG UGM, Prof. drg. Suryono, SH, MM, Ph.D., who was present and delivered remarks, stressed the importance of educational institutions’ involvement in meeting the need for specialist dentists throughout Indonesia, particularly in disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) regions.
“Many regencies still lack specialist personnel. We hope that prosthodontics graduates are not only competent but also able to contribute to expanding access to dental healthcare services for the community,” he stated. He also expressed optimism that all participants would achieve a 100 percent pass rate in this year’s examination.

Prior to the examination days, examiners participated in a series of technical briefings and a review of Student Oral Case Analysis (SOCA) questions.
EXAMINATION IMPLEMENTATION: STRICT, STRUCTURED, AND NATIONALLY STANDARDIZED
Participants undertook three examination components:
- Computer Based Test (CBT)
- OSCE conducted in four waves
- Student Oral Case Analysis (SOCA) conducted in four sessions, followed by scoring and evaluation meetings in the afternoon. Participants who did not meet the required passing score were given the opportunity to take remedial examinations the following day.
PARTICIPANT ENTHUSIASM AND EXPECTATIONS FOR PASSING
In his remarks, the Chair of the Central Executive Board of IPROSI emphasized that the competency examination is a “gateway to professionalism.” He expressed hope that all participants would successfully complete the examination series and proceed to the next stage as competent dental specialists with high ethical standards.
The organization of the 22nd National Prosthodontics Competency Examination in 2025 at FKG UGM reaffirms the institution’s commitment to supporting the equitable distribution of specialist dental healthcare personnel in Indonesia. With thorough preparation, support from national examiners, and adequate facilities, this activity is expected to produce prosthodontists who are not only academically excellent but also ready to serve the community.
