The high prevalence of periodontal disease and the development of science and technology underlying the concepts of prevention, treatment, and maintenance of dental and oral health demand a paradigm shift in dental and oral health services. This necessitates an improvement in the quality of graduates with high competence in Periodontology as the target for quality improvement and relevance in the implementation of education in the Periodontology Specialist Study Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM). The service and community dedication program in the Periodontology Specialist Study Program has also become a source of knowledge and community empowerment for students and lecturers. Most aspects running in the program align with institutional goals. However, some policies related to more comprehensive human resource development, more integrative databases, and the development of specific fields to support the learning process in the Periodontology Specialist Study Program need to be continuously developed to realize an excellent, globally insightful, and Pancasila-based Periodontology Specialist Study Program at FKG UGM.
