Pediatric Dentistry
This department is part of the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada, specifically focusing on children in their growth phase, from birth to adolescence. It encompasses all aspects of oral and dental health care, based on crucial knowledge from various dental, medical, and behavioral sciences applied to growing children. We provide oral care starting from early childhood prevention, which enables maintaining the growing teeth in a healthy condition and proper alignment. This also implies early diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases and conditions found in children, including caries, periodontal diseases, mineralization disorders, developmental and eruption disturbances of teeth, and traumatic injuries in healthy, sick, and disabled children.

Research Focus
Special needs care
Children with special needs are young individuals who are determined to require special attention and specific needs that other children do not have. A country may declare this status to provide benefits and assistance for the well-being and growth of such children.
Craniofacial complex
The craniofacial complex comprises the head, face, and oral cavity and is the most distinctive structure among all structures in the human body, giving each individual a unique identity.
Oral habits in pediatric patients
Oral habits are tendencies toward an action or behavior that has become a relatively fixed, consistent, easily performed, and almost automatic performance.
