Dental SilkBon is an innovative product developed by the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM). The product officially received its trademark certification from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP), Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, on 2 May 2024. This certification marks the official recognition of the uniqueness and quality of the product, developed by Prof. Dr. drg. Siti Sunarintyas, M.Kes., Head of the Department of Dental Biomaterials Science at FKG UGM.
Dental SilkBon is the latest innovation in dental care products, utilizing natural silk fibers from Bombyx mori. These fibers are known for their strength, aesthetic appeal, and environmental friendliness. This product not only offers high-quality dental care but also commits to environmental preservation by reducing carbon emissions.
This trademark certification provides protection for the next ten years. Dr. Ahmad Rifai, Head of the DGIP, emphasized the importance of trademark certification, stating, "The issuance of trademark certificates is a crucial step in protecting intellectual property rights and encouraging innovation in Indonesia. This certificate provides legal certainty and protection for trademarks, which is vital in encouraging investors and industry players to continue innovating and contributing to the creative economy and sustainability."
Dental SilkBon, which has been developed since 2022, is now ready to scale up into an industrial product. With the newly received trademark certification, Dental SilkBon is expected to strengthen its position in the market and continue its commitment to innovation and environmental sustainability. The existence of Dental SilkBon reflects FKG UGM's support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG Goal 3: Good Health and Well-Being and SDG Goal 13: Climate Action.
