Prof. drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), officially inaugurated a new operational bus on 16 August 2024. This vehicle will support various activities such as community service, study visits, and other higher education activities. The inauguration was attended by department heads, program coordinators, and representatives of the FKG UGM administrative staff.
In his speech, the Dean emphasized the importance of adequate facilities to support the smooth operation of academic activities. The addition of this transportation fleet is expected to enhance the effectiveness of faculty and staff mobility.
Following his speech, Prof. Suryono performed the traditional “pecah kendi” ceremony, which holds symbolic significance. In Javanese tradition, breaking a water jug (kendi) represents simplicity. The clay jug symbolizes human vulnerability and fragility. “I urge everyone to work together to advance FKG UGM,” he said.
The new FKG UGM operational bus is a Jetbus 3+ Big Jumbo with a capacity for 11 passengers. The vehicle is equipped with various safety features including emergency exits, a glass-breaking hammer, and a fire extinguisher, ensuring the safety and comfort of its users.
