Internal Quality Audit Enhances the Quality of the Master’s Program in Dental Medicine at FKG UGM

The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) conducted an Internal Quality Audit (AMI) visitation for the Master’s Program in Dental Medicine (S2 IKG) on Thursday, 10 October 2024, via Zoom Meeting

This event was attended by the Head of the Master’s Program in IKG, homebaselecturers, students, alumni, and relevant stakeholders as part of an ongoing effort to improve the quality of education, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 16 (Peace and Justice Strong Institutions), and Goal 17 (Partnerships to Achieve the Goals).

The Internal Quality Audit was led by two auditors, Prof. Dr. L. Hartanto Nugroho, M.Agr., and Dr. drg. Sri Budi Barunawati, M.Kes., Sp.Pros(K), with the aim of evaluating the educational standards of the program and identifying areas for improvement.

After an opening by the Head of the Quality Assurance Unit, the Head of the Master’s Program in IKG presented the program’s achievements, challenges, and future plans. This presentation provided a comprehensive overview of the program's commitment to delivering high-quality education to students.

An interactive discussion followed between the auditors and lecturers, providing a space for idea exchange to enhance the educational experience. Students and alumni also participated, offering valuable perspectives on the impact of the education they received. Students shared their experiences, while alumni provided insights into how the program has influenced their careers in dentistry.

The visitation concluded with the auditors presenting the results of the audit. They highlighted the strengths and aspects that need improvement, such as the submission for international accreditation to attract more international students, considering the existing international collaborations.

Prof. Dr. drg. Juni Handajani, M.Kes., Ph.D., Head of the Master’s Program in IKG, expressed, “Thank you very much for the valuable feedback. It is very helpful for us. We hope that the Master’s Program in IKG can continue to advance and align with our vision.”

This visitation marks an important step in the continuous improvement of the program, which not only impacts the enhancement of educational quality but also contributes to the achievement of the SDGs, particularly in preparing future dental professionals to improve health and well-being in society.
