In the 2024 Nomination Event for Exemplary Medical and Health Workers and Outstanding Cadres, drg. Yenny Yokung Yong, MDSc., Sp.Perio, an alumnus of the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), won the award for Favorite Exemplary Medical and Health Worker. This award was presented by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia in the category of DPTK Medical Staff Referral Service on 16 August 2024.
drg. Yenny, who graduated from the Master's Program in Clinical Dental Sciences (IKGK) with a specialization in Periodontology from FKG UGM in 2016, won the award by securing 52% of the votes in the poll conducted. She surpassed two other nominees, dr. Irnawati, Sp.M., M.Kes., and Dr. dr. Muhammad Nasir Ruki, S.Si., M.Kes., Apt.Sp.
For 13 years, drg. Yenny has dedicated herself as a Periodontist at Perpetua J. Safanpo Regional General Hospital (RSUD), Agats District, Asmat Regency, South Papua. In addition to providing healthcare services through a mobile clinic reaching remote communities, she is actively involved in collaboration with local religious communities for social activities.
Some of these activities include blood donation drives, community service, nutrition education, and egg distribution programs for malnourished toddlers. Additionally, drg. Yenny is engaged in health education movements, such as campaigns for proper tooth brushing and teaching reading to elementary school children in Asmat Regency.
“I am very grateful for this recognition. This award motivates me to continue giving my best to the people of Papua, especially in Asmat. I believe that with collaboration and dedication, we can create a healthier and more empowered Indonesia,” said drg. Yenny.
This award not only reflects drg. Yenny’s dedication to healthcare but also her contributions to education and social welfare in remote areas. As an alumnus of FKG UGM, this achievement is a source of pride for her alma mater, which continues to promote the development of human resources in the field of health
