Ahmad Muttaqin Named UGM Outstanding Staff 2024

The Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) has achieved another proud milestone. Ahmad Muttaqin secured 3rd place in the 2024 Inspirational Educational Staff category at the UGM Outstanding Staff Awards Night 2024, held at Graha Sabha Pramana on 13 November 2024.

Commonly known as Uut, he began his career at FKG UGM in October 2010, shortly after completing his Diploma in Archival Studies at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, UGM. Initially working in the archival division, he later transitioned through various units, including correspondence and quality assurance, before becoming the administrator of the Biomaterials Department in 2014.

Since 2022, he has also been part of the Community Service Unit. “The variety of roles I have undertaken has taught me many things, which has been invaluable in understanding the needs of different work units,” Uut shared.

Innovation
One of Uut’s most impactful contributions is the development of the Online Room and Event Reservation Information System (SIRKO). Before SIRKO, scheduling a room at FKG UGM required users to contact room managers individually, a time-consuming process that often led to confusion when a desired room was already booked.

“With SIRKO, all room schedules at FKG UGM can be easily accessed through a single website, saving time and streamlining coordination,” Uut explained. The system was developed based on his observations of daily operational challenges, demonstrating how simple yet effective solutions can significantly enhance efficiency at FKG UGM.

In his work, Uut adheres to the principle of "following the rules of the game."He believes that while work can be challenging, understanding organizational culture and workflow makes the process easier. Support from colleagues and leadership has also been instrumental in his success. “The ideas I propose come from discussions with colleagues and direct observations in the field. Leadership support then helps turn these ideas into faculty-wide solutions,” he added.

As an inspirational staff member, Uut shared a simple yet meaningful message with his colleagues: "Work can be tough—sometimes, it always is. But not working could create even bigger problems." With this award, Ahmad Muttaqin hopes to continue contributing innovative solutions that will have a lasting impact on FKG UGM.
