Organizing PPI, FKG UGM Ensures Community Protection from Infections

The field of dentistry extends beyond oral health to encompass oral diseases often linked to various other health conditions. Many educators or faculty members in dental medicine also practice as dentists, operate private clinics, or work as healthcare professionals in hospitals. Healthcare providers must understand and effectively manage infections and implement preventive measures. In a demonstration of its commitment to public health and addressing infections, FKG UGM conducted the Basic Infection Prevention and Control Training (PPI) led by drg. Muhammad Reza Pahlevi, Ph.D. 

The training was attended by internal faculty members of FKG UGM, experts from Prof Soedomo Dental Hospital, and representatives from local health centers collaborating with FKG UGM. It aimed to equip participants with the understanding and skills to control infections effectively. The event commenced on 20-22 March 2024 and continued on 25-26 March 2024. It was held at Classroom DEF, 2nd Floor Dental Learning Center FKG UGM. This structured curriculum training is registered under the Ministry of Health and includes several training modules: Basic training modules covering infection prevention and control policies in Healthcare Facilities (Fasyankes) and Patient Safety in Fasyankes; Core training modules encompassing Infection Concepts, Infection Prevention and Control Programs in Fasyankes, Infection Risk Assessment in Fasyankes, Infection Prevention and Control in Fasyankes, as well as Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting of PPI Programs; and Supporting training modules include Building Learning Commitment, Anti-Corruption, and Follow-up Action Plan (RTL).

The training also featured internal speakers from FKG UGM, such as Drg. Elastria Widita, MSc, PhD, Prof. drg. Tetiana Haniastuti, MSc, PhD, and drg. Fitrina Rachmadanty, MPH. Thus, FKG UGM aims for this training to create a safer and higher-quality healthcare environment. This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 3 and 4. Through this training, FKG UGM is committed to enhancing healthcare professionals' competence in infection control and providing the best healthcare services to the community
