Dr. drg. Ananto Ali Alhasyimi, MDSc, Sp.Ort is a distinguished lecturer and researcher, holding the position of Associate Professor with a specialization in Orthodontic Growth and Development, as well as Retention and Relapse, at the Department of Orthodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) in Yogyakarta. He is also an active orthodontic specialist practitioner in Yogyakarta. Dr. Ananto earned his dentist profession degree (drg.) in 2012. Shortly after, he obtained a Master of Dental Science (MDSc.) within just one year, followed by a Doctorate (Dr.) in under three years, and subsequently completed his Orthodontic Specialist (Sp.Ort.) education in 2.5 years, all at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada. He graduated with honors (cum laude) at each educational level, reflecting his exceptional academic excellence throughout his career.
As the head of the publication unit at the Faculty of Dentistry, UGM, and a member of the QS World University Rankings acceleration team at UGM, Dr. Ananto is a highly productive and innovative researcher, demonstrating his dedication through an extensive and diverse array of scientific publications. Over the years, Dr. Ananto has contributed dozens of high-quality scientific works recognized globally in reputable international journals. One of his latest scientific publications, titled "Effectiveness of The Attachment Design and Thickness of Clear Aligners During Orthodontic Anterior Retraction: Finite Element Analysis," was published in 2023 in the European Journal of Dentistry, indexed as Quartile 1 (Q1) by SCOPUS. Another example of his work is "The Use of Polymers to Enhance Post-Orthodontic Tooth Stability," published in the Journal Polymers in the same year and indexed in Quartile 1 (Q1) by SCOPUS. Dr. Ananto actively conducts leading research funded by renowned institutions such as DAMAS FKG UGM, SIMLITABMAS, and RTA UGM and is currently entrusted as a Key Opinion Leader (KOL) for the Damon Bracket System in Indonesia.
Dr. drg. Ananto Ali Alhasyimi, MDSc, Sp.Ort has received numerous accolades and awards, demonstrating his outstanding contributions at national and international levels. In 2017, he won a scientific writing competition organized by the Dental Journal Surabaya. In 2018, he received the "Young Investigator Award" from the International Association of Dental Research in Vietnam and won a poster competition organized by the Indonesian Orthodontic Association in 2019. His achievements were further highlighted when one of his scientific articles was recognized as a "Top Cited Paper" in the Orthodontic & Craniofacial Research journal by Wiley Publishers from the United States in 2020. In 2021, he was the runner-up at an international conference at Universitas Brawijaya and won a clinical case report competition in South Korea. Continuing his streak, in 2022, Dr. Ananto won poster and oral presentation competitions at national orthodontic events and a conference at Universitas Brawijaya. His most recent accolade in 2023 was awarded as an outstanding lecturer by Universitas Gadjah Mada, further solidifying his reputation as a leading figure in orthodontics in Indonesia.
Despite his numerous achievements and busy schedule as an academic and clinician, Dr. Ananto always makes time for his hobbies, which include exercising and visiting the gym to support Universitas Gadjah Mada's Health Promoting University initiative. This initiative aims to enhance the healthy behavior of faculty, educational staff, and students, thereby increasing productivity and quality.
