drg. Poerwati Soetji Rahajoe, Sp.B.M.M., Subsp. T.M.T.M.J.(K), Ph.D, commonly known as drg. Soetji or drg. Suci, is a lecturer in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM). Since 2017, she has been the Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. She graduated with a degree in Dentistry from FKG UGM in 1989 and completed her specialization in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at FKG UGM in 2001. In 2023, she earned her Ph.D. from the University of Groningen with a dissertation titled “Is periodontitis linked to low-grade inflammation and development of rheumatoid arthritis.”
drg. Soetji is also a consultant in Maxillofacial Trauma and Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders. She has significantly contributed to the scientific community in these fields, as evidenced by her numerous publications in Scopus-indexed Q1 journals. Notable among her publications are “Increased IgA anti‐citrullinated protein antibodies in the periodontal inflammatory exudate of healthy individuals compared to rheumatoid arthritis patients,” published in the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, and “Cytokines in gingivocrevicular fluid of rheumatoid arthritis patients: A review of the literature” published in Oral Diseases. These top-tier journals have acceptance rates below 25%, indicating high selectivity.
In addition to her academic role at FKG UGM, drg. Soetji is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at RSU Islam Klaten. She applies her expertise to treat patients with TMJ disorders, trauma, and other oral and maxillofacial conditions. She is also actively involved in community service, performing surgeries for cleft lip and palate and other oral surgeries.
