drg. Asikin Nur, M.Kes, Ph.D. is a lecturer and researcher specializing in Oral Microbiology at the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta. His educational background includes a dental degree obtained in 2008 and a Master of Dental Medicine degree obtained in 2003, both from the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM). He completed his Ph.D. studies at Tokushima University from 2010 to 2014.
He is the Head of the Department of Biomedical Sciences, Faculty of Dentistry (2021-2026). He previously held the position of Head of the Community Service Unit from 2016 to 2018 and was the head of the Korpagama UGM Clinic from 2019 to 2021.
Since becoming a lecturer at UGM, drg. Asikin Nur has been dedicated to the field of Biomedical Sciences, with a focus on Microbiology. His thesis and dissertation also centered on Microbiology. He has published several papers in national and international journals. He received research grants consecutively in 2022 and 2023 from the Matching Fund Kedaireka (DIKTI), resulting in the downstream product Lip Balm, made from coriander seed extract.
In addition to his roles as a lecturer and researcher, drg. Asikin is actively involved in various non-academic activities. He has served as the chairman of the Korpagama Unit at the Faculty of Dentistry, UGM (2021-present), vice-chairman of the central Korpagama UGM (2023-present), and advisor to the UGM Tennis Student Activity Unit (2021-present). He has been a dentist at the Korpagama UGM Clinic since 2015 and has maintained a private dental practice since 1998.
To promote health and support the Health Promoting University initiative at Universitas Gadjah Mada, drg. Asikin is also actively engaged in sports, particularly tennis. He frequently participates in local and national tennis championships. Some of his notable achievements include:
- First Place in Men's Doubles, 45-year age category, ATMI National Championship in Bali.
- First Place in Team Tennis, ATMI National Championship in Magelang.
- Second Place in Team Tennis, ATMI National Championship in Yogyakarta (6-8 October 2023).
- Third Place in Men's Doubles, 27 October 2023, in Yogyakarta.
- First Place in Men's Doubles, Roy Cup Championship, 2-3 March 2024, in Yogyakarta.
