Dr. drg. Bernadetta Esti Chrismawaty, M.Kes., MD.Sc. obtained her dentist profession degree from the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada in Yogyakarta in 1991 and joined the Department of Oral Medicine in 1993. She earned a Master's in Health Sciences in 2002 from the Graduate School of Universitas Gadjah Mada and a Master of Dental Sciences degree from the Clinical Dentistry Program in 2012 at her alma mater. In 2022, she completed her Doctoral degree in Medical and Health Sciences from the Doctoral Program in Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Yogyakarta.

Since 1993, she has been actively involved in the clinical supervision of dental students in the Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery clerkship. However, several years later, the oral medicine department separated from the oral surgery department, and clinical supervision shifted towards identifying, diagnosing, and managing oral soft tissue diseases in patients of various ages, with or without various medical backgrounds, as complicating factors. 

She has also been actively involved in developing Oral Medicine, teaching dental students various scientific subjects within the scope of Oral Medicine, and developing clinical materials related to oral disease for professional education students. Since 2006, she has participated in the general development of the dental curriculum, specifically in oral disease. From 2012 to the present, she has played an active role in teaching oral health and disease to dental students at Universitas Gadjah Mada. Since 2018, she has taught students at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada various subjects related to oral disease. 

Starting in 2022, she has been teaching and examining at the postgraduate level (Master's and Doctoral) at the Faculty of Dentistry and Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing at Universitas Gadjah Mada. She is actively involved in various aspects of the Education Tri Dharma: community service, scientific meetings, scientific writing, and research focusing on oral diseases, including the identification and diagnosis of oral lesions/abnormalities, problem-solving skills, and clinical decision-making in determining treatment/care management plans related to Oral Medicine expertise. 

Since 2012, she has been actively involved as a national expert panelist for the Indonesian Dentist Competency Examination (UKDGI) and the Competency Examination for Dentist Profession Education Students (UKMP2DG).
