Faculty of Dentistry UGM Shares Research Innovations with Universiti Malaya, Malaysia

The Faculty of Dentistry at UGM welcomed a visit from the Center for Innovation in Medical Engineering, Universiti Malaya (CIME UM) on Friday (6/10). The delegation from CIME UM, consisting of 7 UM faculty members led by Prof. Ir. Dr. Fatimah Ibrahim, was warmly received by the leadership of UGM's Faculty of Dentistry and the Integrated Research and Testing Laboratory (LPPT) team at OECF Building, 2nd Floor.

The purpose of the visit was to tour the laboratories and engage in discussions about international research collaboration. This initiative aligns with the goals and activities of CIME and UGM's tridharma mission. CIME is one of the study centers at Universiti Malaya, focusing on the implementation and development of the health industry.

The visit began with an address by the Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Prof. drg. Suryono, SH., MM., Ph.D., followed by a presentation by Prof. Ir. Dr. Fatimah Ibrahim highlighting the research findings of CIME. Subsequent presentations sparked discussions, including Q&A sessions, and featured presentations by drg. Mohammad Fadyl Yunizar, Ph.D., on using AI to enhance dental education at UGM, and drg. Vincensia Maria Karina, MDSc., Sp.Perio.(K.), on Gama Dentical XR. The program continued with a visit to LPPT UGM and the Integrated Research Laboratory DLC of the Faculty of Dentistry, UGM.

The visit concluded with an agreement to proceed with the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) regarding research collaboration, covering aspects such as conference workshops, joint research with DLC, and Integrated Testing Research with LPPT UGM, together with Prof. Dr. Eng. Yusril Yusuf, S.Si., M.Si., M.Eng. These collaborative activities are scheduled to commence in 2024.

Such collaborative research initiatives, particularly in the healthcare sector, reflect a commitment to achieving Goal 3 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by strengthening and enhancing capacity. Moreover, they align with Goal 4 to ensure inclusive and quality education for all.
