FKG UGM’s commitment to strengthening the quality of dental education, healthcare services, and innovation continues to be demonstrated through various initiatives. One of these was the participation of the Prosthodontics Department in the international event Prosthodontics Refreshment 2026 in Conjunction with the 3rd Indonesian Prosthodontics Annual Meeting (IPAM) , held in Bandung on 21–22 May 2026. Carrying the theme “Transforming Oral & Maxillofacial Rehabilitation Through Advanced Prosthodontics” , the event served as a strategic platform to update scientific knowledge, strengthen professional networks, and reinforce FKG UGM’s position in advancing prosthodontics at both national and global levels.
Rather than simply attending as participants, the FKG UGM delegation also contributed as academic speakers, scientific competition judges, participants in the latest technology workshops, and award recipients in national scientific competitions. The involvement of UGM Prosthodontics lecturers and residents demonstrates that the transformation of dental education today is not only determined by mastery of clinical knowledge but also by the ability to adapt to the rapid development of digital technologies that are increasingly reshaping dental practice.
Moving Toward Technology-Based Oral Rehabilitation
The international seminar, attended by approximately 400 dentists and prosthodontic specialists from various regions of Indonesia, featured world experts discussing the latest developments in oral and maxillofacial rehabilitation. The topics covered comprehensive oral rehabilitation planning, orofacial pain management, patient-oriented maxillofacial prosthetic innovations, and anterior ceramic aesthetic technologies.
These discussions demonstrated that the future of prosthodontics is no longer limited to replacing missing teeth but has evolved into a discipline that simultaneously integrates biological, functional, aesthetic, and digital aspects.
According to drg. Pramudya Aditama, M.DSc., Sp.Pros, participation in international forums such as IPAM is an important opportunity to ensure that the Prosthodontics curriculum and educational practices at FKG UGM remain aligned with global scientific developments.

Digital Dentistry Becomes the Mainstream
One of the key themes emerging from nearly all scientific sessions was the increasingly dominant role of digital technology in prosthodontic practice. Various speakers highlighted the use of digital dentures, digital scanning, software-based implant planning, and more efficient and precise dental fabrication techniques.
This transformation reflects a paradigm shift in dental healthcare from conventional approaches toward data-driven and technology-based services. Digitalization enables diagnosis, treatment planning, and prosthesis fabrication to be carried out faster, more accurately, and more comfortably for patients.
For educational institutions such as FKG UGM, this development serves as an important signal to continuously strengthen digital competencies among lecturers and students.
drg. Mohammad Fadyl Yunizar, MPH., Ph.D., who participated in the scientific sessions and workshops, stated that digital transformation is no longer an option but a necessity.
“The development of digital technology in prosthodontics is progressing very rapidly. Through this activity, we gained valuable insights into how technology can improve diagnostic accuracy, treatment effectiveness, and the overall patient experience,” explained drg. Fadyl.
FKG UGM Contributes to National Scientific Competition
In addition to attending seminars, the FKG UGM delegation actively participated in scientific competitions held as part of IPAM 2026. In the competition, Prof. drg. Titik Ismiyati, M.S., Sp.Pros(K), was appointed as a judge for the literature/systematic reviewcategory, representing the Prosthodontics Study Program at FKG UGM.
Meanwhile, FKG UGM Prosthodontics resident drg. Mohammad Fadyl Yunizar, MPH., Ph.D., became a finalist in the case report category through his work titled: “Surgical Guide Implant Planning for Implant-Retained Overdenture in A Severely Resorbed Mandible with Superficially Positioned Mandibular Nerve: Case Report”. His achievement was further recognized by winning third place in the Case Report category during the award ceremony.
This success demonstrates that the quality of research and clinical studies developed at FKG UGM is capable of competing at the national level.
Prof. drg. Titik Ismiyati, M.S., Sp.Pros(K), emphasized that a strong academic culture must continue to be nurtured in order to produce innovations that provide meaningful contributions to society.
“Achievements in scientific competitions are not the final goal. More importantly, research and clinical studies must provide real contributions to scientific development and improve the quality of dental healthcare services for the community.”
Maintaining National Prosthodontics Education Standards
The strategic role of FKG UGM was also reflected through its involvement in the Prosthodontics Collegium Work Meeting, attended by representatives of the Indonesian Prosthodontists Association (IPROSI), organizing committees, and delegates from various regions of Indonesia, including Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, Makassar, Bali, NTB, NTT, and Kalimantan.
The forum served as an important platform to discuss the future direction of prosthodontics specialist education, alignment of competency standards, and challenges that the profession will face in the future.
FKG UGM’s involvement in the collegium forum demonstrates the institution’s active contribution to maintaining the quality of specialist education and strengthening academic governance at the national level.
Building the Future of Indonesian Prosthodontics
Participation in seminars, workshops, scientific competitions, and collegium meetings demonstrates that human resource development is a key investment in maintaining the competitiveness of healthcare education institutions. The FKG UGM delegation, consisting of Prof. Dr. drg. Titik Ismiyati, M.S., Sp.Pros(K), drg. Murti Indrastuti, M.Kes., Sp.Pros(K), drg. Pramudya Aditama, M.DSc., Sp.Pros, and drg. Mohammad Fadyl Yunizar, MPH., Ph.D., did not simply bring home certificates of participation but also new knowledge, collaborative networks, and inspiration to encourage transformation in dental education and prosthodontic services in Indonesia.
Amid the rapid advancement of dental technology, FKG UGM demonstrates that academic excellence cannot be built solely through classrooms and laboratories. Excellence emerges from openness toward innovation, the courage to compete, and the ability to establish international-scale collaborations.
The participation of the Prosthodontics Department in IPAM 2026 proves that FKG UGM continues to move forward as an institution that not only follows change but also plays an important role in shaping the future of Indonesian prosthodontics with global competitiveness.
