BRIN – UGM Research Collaboration Center
On 13 October 2025, the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), in collaboration with the Research Collaboration Center (Pusat Kolaborasi Riset/PKR) of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), organized a research workshop workshop on the Biomedical Scaffold Bibliometric Method at FKG UGM. Prof. drg. Ika Dewi Ana, M.Kes., Ph.D., as Chair of the UGM Biomedical Scaffold Research Collaboration Center, stated in her opening remarks that the research collaboration initiative in partnership with BRIN was officially inaugurated by the Dean of FKG UGM, Prof. drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D. At present, several research centers from BRIN, including the biomedical research center, have become members of the Biomedical Scaffold PKR. Faculties within UGM are also involved in this research collaboration center. This event also served as a socialization platform, as FKG UGM has an obligation to disseminate information about the research collaboration center.
Prof. Ika added that since the decision by BRIN, UGM has received funding for this collaboration center, and within one year the PKR has been able to produce 22 to 27 publications. “This would not be possible if we did not collaborate with one another. Several research funding opportunities can also be accessed through BRIN’s official website. When applying, it is required that at least one BRIN researcher be included as a member, for example for Asia-wide or Europe-wide projects, and so on.” With the establishment of this research collaboration center, it is expected that access to research funding opportunities will be expanded.
This meeting focused on the establishment and operation of a research collaboration center to enhance scientific publications and access research funding through collaborative efforts. Participants learned about bibliometric research methods, including database searching and data analysis tools, while discussing practical applications and challenges in conducting bibliometric studies. The session covered various technical aspects, including software installation, data cleaning, and keyword clustering processes, with plans to continue learning about bibliometric visualization in future meetings.

Research Collaboration Center Operations
The meeting also discussed the formation and operation of the research collaboration center, highlighting its importance in advancing scientific publications and accessing research funding. Participants were emphasized on the center’s role in facilitating collaborative efforts, improving research quality, and supporting academic and technological development. They were also taught how to overcome challenges such as limited resources and the need to increase participation, and expressed their appreciation for the support received. The session concluded with plans to continue practical sessions on search strategies for bibliometric analysis.
Training on Bibliometric Research Methods
The meeting also focused on teaching bibliometric research methods to participants. Muhammad Indra demonstrated how to retrieve bibliometric data using the Scopus and Web of Science databases, emphasizing the importance of using appropriate search strategies, including keywords, synonyms, and controlled vocabularies. He explained how to design search queries, exclude certain types of articles, and limit search results by specific languages and publication years. Participants then practiced conducting data searches.
