Clinical Accreditation Workshop of Oral Medicine and Prosthodontics Study Programs FKG UGM

The Oral Medicine (IPM) Study Program and the Prosthodontics Study Program of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), participated in a clinical workshop aimed at improving the quality of Health Study Programs, based on the 2025 Qualitative Accreditation Instrument, in preparation for the re-accreditation of the Specialist Program in Oral Medicine and the re-accreditation of the Specialist Program in Prosthodontics. The event was attended by: drg. Hendri Susanto, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp.PM. drg. Tjut Intan Permata Sari, Sp.PM. drg. Nadya Kurnia Putri. drg. Daniel Rino Krismasurya. The workshop took place over two days, 25-26 August 2025, at ICE BSD, South Tangerang, Banten.

The first day introduced the Indonesian Accreditation Agency for Higher Education in Health (IAAHEH), which is part of LAMPTKes in international accreditation and has already received international recognition. IAAHEH aims to facilitate and develop international accreditation. The benefits of international accreditation include smoother international collaboration, professional recognition and work opportunities abroad for graduates from internationally accredited institutions, and the creation of a culture of Continuity Quality Improvement. Contiuity Quality Improvement.

IAAHEH accreditation assessments are based on 8 criteria in line with UK accreditation standards, namely:

  1. Vision, Mission, Goals, and Strategy
    Study programs must ensure that their vision, mission, and goals are aligned with clear and measurable learning outcomes. The strategies applied to achieve these goals must involve all components of the program and be continuously evaluated.
  2. Curriculum
    The curriculum must be designed according to existing standards and guarantee the achievement of graduate learning outcomes. Integrating research and community service activities into education is also crucial to ensure curriculum relevance to social, cultural, and economic needs.
  3. Assessment
    The assessment system must be objective, transparent, and accountable, using valid and reliable instruments. Learning outcome evaluations must cover various domains to comprehensively measure student competence.
  4. Students
    The program must have a fair and objective student admission system and maintain a balanced ratio of students, lecturers, and staff. The development of student interests, talents, and professionalism is also an important part of academic activities.
  5. Lecturers, Academic Staff, Research, and Community Service
    The management of lecturers and staff must prioritize qualifications, competence, and career sustainability. The program must also have systems for managing research and community service to support the achievement of its vision and mission.
  6. Facilities, Infrastructure, and Finance
    Adequate facilities, infrastructure, and accountable, efficient financing are essential for smooth education, research, and community service activities.
  7. Quality Assurance
    An internal quality assurance system (SPMI) must be established and implemented effectively to ensure program quality. This includes policies, manuals, standards, and procedures communicated clearly and applied effectively.
  8. Governance and Administration
    Leadership within the study program must ensure transparent, accountable, and fair governance. Good governance is key to successfully implementing education, research, and community service functions.

Accreditation Policies and Procedures

Based on Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation No. 53 of 2023 by LAM-PTKes, both national and international instruments use 8 qualitative criteria. Quality assurance systems must be implemented, though a separate body is not mandatory. These quality assurance systems must exceed national standards. Re-accreditation submissions for already accredited programs must be filed no later than 9 months before accreditation expires. If international accreditation has been obtained and national accreditation expires, re-accreditation at the national level is not required; international accreditation alone is sufficient. Without accreditation, programs cannot graduate students.
