Universitas Gadjah Mada once again achieved an outstanding milestone in the field of national orthodontics specialist education. At the National Orthodontics Specialist Competency Examination held on 12 July 2025 at Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, the orthodontics resident team from the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) UGM was crowned Overall Champion, outperforming delegations from five other leading institutions: Universitas Indonesia (UI), Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad), Universitas Hasanuddin (Unhas), Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), and Universitas Airlangga (Unair).
This achievement reflects the exceptional performance of UGM residents across all exam components: Computer-Based Test (CBT), Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), and wire bending. The individual accomplishments of UGM participants directly contributed to the overall score, securing UGM’s position as the top institution in this prestigious academic competition.
Three UGM residents successfully earned national rankings in the overall exam results. drg. Maria Felicitas Ajeng Estuningtyas achieved 2nd place, drg. Ahmad Fadli Fajrian ranked 3rd, and drg. Eufrasia Claudia Putri secured 5th place.
These achievements highlight not only academic excellence and clinical skills but also reflect the consistent quality of education and mentorship within the Department of Orthodontics, FKG UGM. The residents underwent a rigorous selection and intensive training process before facing the national exam, which is designed to comprehensively and objectively assess orthodontics specialists’ competencies.
This success also strengthens FKG UGM’s contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through its commitment to providing excellent and competitive specialist education, while producing highly qualified, ethical dental professionals ready to serve the community.
Winning the Overall Champion title at the 2025 Orthodontics Competency Examination marks a proud milestone for the academic community of FKG UGM, serving as motivation to maintain high educational standards, enhance academic reputation, and continue producing graduates who can compete nationally and internationally.
