The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), continues to contribute to community service through the Health Promoting Unit (HPU) initiative on Friday, 13 December 2024. Held at the Faculty of Agriculture (Faperta), the event aimed to raise awareness about oral health among 12 faculty staff members who participated in the dental check-up.
The event involved a joint team from FKG UGM, consisting of four lecturers, two dental interns (co-assistants), four educators, and five students. The check-up was also part of the Posbindu PTM program at Faperta, a routine health initiative conducted in collaboration with FKG UGM and the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FKKMK) UGM.
Drg. Tjut Intan, Head of the HPU FKG UGM, highlighted the significance of this initiative. "The HPU FKG Road to Campus program is regularly conducted in several faculties across UGM. This is not the first time we have visited Faperta. We hope this initiative serves as a model for other faculties, ensuring that oral health data across UGM is better organized," she explained.
Beyond dental check-ups, the event aimed to educate participants on the importance of oral health as a key factor in work productivity. Desy, a representative from the HPU team at the Faculty of Agriculture, emphasized the importance of health risk mitigation, including dental health. "We hope that initiatives like this can enhance work productivity within the Faperta UGM environment," she stated.
This initiative reflects FKG UGM’s commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being by providing preventive healthcare services for workers; and SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth by ensuring healthy employees for sustainable productivity.
