Two resident doctors from the Periodontics Specialist Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), drg. Feby Monika and drg. Kent Sidharta, have achieved outstanding results by earning the highest scores in the November 2024 Periodontics Specialist Competency Examination.
According to the Periodontics Collegium's official assessment, as stated in Decree No. SK/006/01.EU/Kol.Perio/XII/2024, drg. Feby Monika obtained a perfect score of 95, followed closely by drg. Kent Sidharta with a score of 94.
This competency exam, designed to assess the clinical and academic proficiency of Periodontics specialist candidates, consisted of a Computer-Based Test (CBT) for theoretical knowledge and an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for practical skills. The exams were conducted in person on Saturday, 23 November 2024.
The Periodontics Specialist Program focuses on the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases affecting the supporting structures of the teeth, including the gums, alveolar bone, and periodontal ligaments. The program also covers preventive care, aesthetic treatments, and dental implant procedures to support oral health in the community.
This achievement aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, which promotes quality healthcare through skilled medical professionals. Furthermore, through inter-institutional collaboration in this examination, this success also reflects the commitment to SDG 17: Partnerships to Achieve the Goal.
The success of these two Periodontics residents highlights FKG UGM's role not only as an educational institution but also as a key player in shaping medical professionals who can address oral health challenges at both national and international levels.
With recognized expertise, graduates of the Periodontics Specialist Program are expected to make a significant positive impact in the healthcare field.
