Clerkship Examination – Department of Pediatric Dentistry

The Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), conducted a Clerkship Examination for clerkship students on 30 September and 3 October 2024. A total of 88 students participated in the examination, which consisted of two main components: the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) and Computer-Based Testing (CBT). This exam aims to assess students' clinical skills and theoretical knowledge, ensuring they are well-prepared to face real-world challenges in pediatric dentistry.

The OSCE provides students with the opportunity to demonstrate their clinical skills in a structured environment, including essential communication and interpersonal skills in pediatric dental practice. Meanwhile, the CBT evaluates students' theoretical knowledge, offering a comprehensive assessment of their competencies.

The Department of Pediatric Dentistry at FKG UGM has long integrated sustainability principles into its curriculum, focusing on education that supports sustainable oral health, particularly in developing countries where access to dental care is limited. This examination not only tests technical skills but also emphasizes the importance of ethical practice and critical thinking in addressing oral health challenges.

Students were assessed by experienced lecturers committed to maintaining high standards in dental education. The diverse background of students enriches the educational experience and prepares them to serve various communities. This initiative also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 on quality education.

Through this examination, students are not only academically tested but also encouraged to critically consider how they can contribute to sustainable oral health practices in the future. The Department of Pediatric Dentistry at FKG UGM remains committed to delivering high-quality education, preparing future dentists to make a positive impact on public health.
