FKG UGM Prepares for National Dental Health Month 2024

Ahead of the National Dental Health Month (BKGN) 2024, the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) is organizing a series of activities aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of oral and dental health. These preparations were marked by a Coordination Meeting held on 13 September 2024.

The meeting was led by Drg. Silviana Farrah Diba, Sp. RKG(K), accompanied by Drg. Yosaphat Bayu Rosanto, Head of the Community Service Unit at FKG UGM, and Drg. Dondi Dwirekyan, representing UGM Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM) Prof. Soedomo.

Opening the meeting, Drg. Farrah announced that BKGN at FKG UGM is expected to take place from 17-19 December 2024. "The series of BKGN 2024 activities will begin with a School Health Program, scheduled at Budi Utama Elementary School on 8 October 2024," she said.

Farrah revealed that for BKGN 2024, FKG UGM will continue its collaboration with PT Unilever. With the theme “Dare to Show Your Smile, Support a Stronger Indonesia,” the event aims to capture public attention and increase participation in maintaining dental health.

The target audience for this event includes the local community around FKG UGM and RSGM UGM, both adult and pediatric patients. The types of treatments provided will include simple extractions, basic fillings, light to moderate scaling, and preventive dentistry such as Topical Fluoride Application. There will also be dental health education sessions.

During this initial meeting, each division discussed their respective roles and responsibilities. The main activity of BKGN 2024 will be free dental treatment, with a target of 750 patients, although last year 900 patients were served. Additionally, the teledentistry program is expected to reach 300 patients.
