The Doctoral Program in Dental Science at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) successfully raised awareness of oral health among employees and tea pickers at PT Pagilaran. This community service activity took place over two consecutive days, on September 7 and 8, 2024, as a result of effective synergy between FKG UGM and PT Pagilaran.
During the two-day event, a combined team of lecturers, alumni, doctoral and master’s students from FKG UGM, as well as educational staff, provided comprehensive dental health services, ranging from education to direct examinations.
The program aimed to enhance community access to information and dental health services, particularly for employees and tea pickers who previously lacked easy access to dental health facilities. The participants showed high enthusiasm, considering the limited access to dental health services in the vicinity of the company.
This initiative not only addresses current dental issues but also aims to instill awareness about the importance of routine dental care, with the hope of reducing the risk of dental diseases and improving the long-term quality of life for the community.
This effort supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions), and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
