Each new topic in the curriculum is accompanied by skill labs training, which students often find daunting as they navigate new material. However, this time, the restorative skill labs training saw a surge in enthusiasm. Students were not only actively involved in the session but were also eager to refine their skills in restorative dental procedures, a crucial skill for future dentists.
On 13 August 2024, fifth-semester students of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), showed their passion during the restorative skill labs training. The event was led by drg. Henytaria Fajrianti, Sp.KG., drg. Fajar Satrio, and drg. Rahmadani Puspitasari.
This training is part of the ongoing curriculum that integrates theory with practical skills essential for clinical practice. Students were divided into groups, given specific restorative procedure targets, and introduced to the tools and materials used in the process. Simulated restorative care procedures were also conducted, reflecting the commitment of UGM’s Dental Conservation Program to provide quality education in restorative dentistry.
This activity supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4: Quality Education, which emphasizes the importance of providing relevant and high-quality education. Additionally, it contributes to SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being, by preparing students to offer high-quality dental care in the future, and SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth, by developing the necessary skills for the professional world.
