Dr. drg. Fanni Kusuma Djati, M.Sc., an alumnus of Universitas Gadjah Mada's (UGM) Faculty of Dentistry, participated as a speaker at the 6th Oral Biology Scientific Meeting (OBSM), organized by the Indonesian Society of Oral Biology (PBOI) on 9-10 August 2024, at the Faculty of Dentistry, Hang Tuah University, Surabaya.
With the theme “Strengthening Oral Biology Related Research through Collaboration”, OBSM 2024 was not only a scientific gathering but also featured various activities such as the PBOI National Working Meeting, Scientific Seminars, Oral and Poster Presentations, Workshops, and Community Service initiatives.
During the seminar session, Dr. drg. Fanni Kusuma Djati, M.Sc., an alumnus of UGM's PhD program in Oral Medicine, delivered a Main Lecture titled "In Silico Disrupting Quorum Sensing of Enterococcus faecalis via Active Compounds from Streptomyces ACT 214."
drg. Fanni's research explores whether active compounds from the bacteria Streptomyces ACT 214 can be used to combat harmful Enterococcus faecalis bacteria by disrupting their inter-bacterial communication (quorum sensing).
Also attending the event was PBOI Chairperson Prof. Dr. drg. Juni Handajani, M.Kes, who, in her opening remarks, highlighted the importance of inter-institutional collaborations, which have led to national research grants and international journal publications.
She also expressed her hope that the National Working Meeting and seminar would further encourage more collaborative research in the field of Oral Biology, in line with the event's theme.
