In line with technological advancements, educational methods continue to innovate. One increasingly popular approach is the use of learning videos.
The Department of Biomaterials Science at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), has launched two practical learning videos to facilitate students' access to educational material.
The two video topics produced are "Manipulation of Chemically Polymerized Acrylic Resin" and "Recovery from Deformation Testing of Alginates." These topics were chosen for their relevance in practical sessions and to help students better understand concepts previously conveyed through modules and face-to-face lectures.
drg. Mutiara Annisa, MDSc, one of the lecturers in the Biomaterials Science department, explained that these learning videos are part of an innovation aimed at enhancing the quality of education and ensuring that students can more easily grasp complex practical techniques.
“We aim to provide a more interactive and easily understandable learning experience, allowing students to master practical skills more effectively,” she stated on Friday, June 7.
According to drg. Mutiara, these videos will be available through the Learning Management Systems (LMS) eLOK and platform YouTube channel "Knowledge FKG UGM," enabling students to access them anytime and anywhere.
“We hope that with these videos, students can gain a deeper understanding of biomaterials and dental technology, as well as be better prepared for the workforce with enhanced competencies,” she added.
This initiative aligns with FKG UGM's efforts to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure).
With the intellectual property rights (IPR) of copyright, these two videos work not only protect the creations but also contribute to enhancing the faculty's achievements at national and international levels.
