The Dental Conservation Study Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), organized an expert lecture via Zoom on 29 February 2024. This lecture featured Dr. Piyapong Panpisut from Thammasat University, Thailand, who discussed the topic “Bioactive Materials in Restorative Dentistry.” The event was attended by 47 students from the Dental Conservation Specialist Education Program (PPDGS) of the 2021, 2022, and 2023 cohorts.
Dr. drg. Tunjung Nugraheni, M.Kes., Sp.KG (K), the head of the Dental Conservation Study Program, emphasized the importance of a deep understanding of bioactive materials. “Understanding bioactive materials is crucial for enhancing clinical skills and providing better treatment solutions for patients,” stated drg. Tunjung.
As a speaker for the event, Dr. Panpisut explained how bioactive materials can stimulate the repair of dental tissues, including dentin and pulp. “Bioactive materials offer innovative solutions for treating and repairing dental tissues, providing significant benefits in patient care,” Dr. Panpisut expressed.
This expert lecture supports the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education), which focuses on enhancing knowledge and skills in dentistry and ensuring access to quality education for students and health professionals. Through this activity, participants are expected to apply the knowledge gained to improve clinical practice and contribute to innovation in the field of dental conservation.
