A delegation from the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), led by Dr. drg. Yulita Kristanti, M.Kes., Sp.KG (K), and Dr. drg. Tunjung Nugraheni, M.Kes., Sp.KG (K), visited the Endodontics Department at the Faculty of Dentistry, Thammasat University, on 15 January 2024.
The visit aimed to strengthen collaboration in the development of postgraduate education programs. The UGM delegation also explored endodontic treatment facilities and procedures at Thammasat University, one of Thailand's leading universities. The first year of the program focuses on handling various clinical cases, while the second year is dedicated to thesis completion.
The UGM delegation observed several unique clinical cases, including C-shaped root canal treatments and underfilled obturation. “We found many interesting things here, including different procedures such as using surgical drapes and even covering patients' eyes,” noted Dr. drg. Tunjung Nugraheni, M.Kes., Sp.KG (K).
The visit also covered rapidly developing research topics, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and the development of bioceramic sealers. “We hope this visit can open opportunities for further collaboration in research,” stated Dr. Yulita.
The Endodontics Department at Thammasat University is equipped with modern facilities, including nine clinical rooms and three microscopes. Dr. Rahmadani Puspitasari, a resident currently studying at UGM’s Faculty of Dentistry, commented that the facilities at Thammasat University greatly support both teaching and optimal clinical practice.
This initiative supports the achievement of SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships to Achieve the Goal). It is hoped that this collaboration will enhance the quality of postgraduate education and encourage innovation in the field of endodontics.
