Six Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Residents from UGM Pass National Competency Exam, Two Achieve National Honors

Behind the precision of the operating room and the tension of the National Competency Examination (UKOMNAS), encouraging news has emerged from Indonesia’s specialist dental education sector. Six candidates from the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), have successfully passed the National Competency Examination held on February 27–28, 2026, at Universitas Indonesia.

The six candidates were drg. Ardhian Rahma Kristiasih, drg. Refitia Inayah Putri, drg. Tresy Charlotte Marito, drg. Chairul Muzakky Eka Burhani, drg. Luthfir Rahman Nugraha Putra, and drg. Nandika Desta Dewara. They underwent a comprehensive national evaluation designed to assess academic readiness, clinical skills, and professional competence before being certified as oral and maxillofacial surgery specialists.

The exam involved participants from seven training centers across Indonesia and represents the final stage in a long and demanding specialist education journey that requires both scientific rigor and clinical maturity.

Among all participants nationwide, drg. Nandika Desta Dewara achieved 1st place in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) and 2nd place overall in the National Competency Examination, reflecting strong academic mastery and advanced clinical reasoning skills.

Meanwhile, drg. Chairul Muzakky Eka Burhani earned 3rd place overall and 3rd place in the interview session, which evaluates clinical depth, professional ethics, and decision-making ability in specialist dental practice.

All six candidates from FKG UGM were declared competent, marking their success in passing the rigorous national evaluation process.

For the institution, this achievement is more than just graduation rates or rankings. It reflects a long educational process encompassing academic learning, clinical training, and the development of professionalism in healthcare delivery.

This accomplishment also reinforces the commitment of FKG UGM’s Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program to producing specialists who excel academically while demonstrating integrity and readiness to address increasingly complex public health needs.

Moreover, the achievement highlights the program’s success in supporting students to complete their studies optimally and on time. With more qualified specialists entering the field, the contribution to dental and oral healthcare services in Indonesia is expected to grow stronger in the future.
