Thirty-five new dental graduates from FKG UGM were inaugurated on Wednesday (30/08) at the Auditorium of Margono Soeradji Building, 3rd Floor. In his address, Dean of FKG UGM drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D. delivered the good news that FKG UGM has achieved recognition as the top dental faculty in Indonesia for August 2023.
This achievement reflects FKG UGM's strong commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly pillars 1, 3, and 4. Through quality education, FKG UGM will continue to produce dental graduates capable of elevating the nation's health status to the highest levels. Improving health status will directly impact the quality of life for the community, bringing our country closer to realizing Indonesia's aspirations without poverty.
The Dean of FKG UGM also expressed his hope that the dental graduates would overcome any challenges. "It all depends on perception; do not see challenges as burdens," he stated.
Furthermore, the Indonesian Dental Council (KKI) Chairperson, Prof. Dr. drg. Melanie Hendriaty Sadono, M.Biomed, PBO., urged dental graduates to remain committed to serving the Indonesian community to the best of their abilities. She advised, "Knowledge continues to evolve, so keep updating your medical knowledge and develop yourself because the country awaits your service."
Three dental graduates were awarded the Dentistry Award for their outstanding performance during this period. The awards were presented by the Chairperson of the FKG UGM Senate, represented by Senate Secretary Prof. drg. Supriatno, M.Kes., MDSc., Ph.D., to the three recipients: drg. Eky Purbaningtyas as Third Place, drg. Aulia Azka as Second Place, and drg. Vania Khairunnisa as First Place.
In her speech, drg. Vania Khairunnisa remarked, "This achievement was attained after a significant struggle, undoubtedly with the help of God and the support of those around me. The journey will not be in vain but will produce competent and resilient dentists.
Next, drg. Lisdrianto Hanindriyo, MPH., Ph.D., representing the DIY Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI), reminded the dental graduates of the August 2023 cohort to always uphold integrity and high ethical standards in their profession. He emphasized, "Fundamentally, working in the healthcare sector is an act of dedication, so it should not be solely aimed at seeking income." In conclusion, he quoted the famous line from the story of the superhero Spider-Man, "with great power comes great responsibility."
Congratulations on your dedication, young Soedomos! We look forward to your contributions to our beloved nation!
