A total of 32 students from the Dentist Profession Education Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) participated in the Comprehensive Exam for Period III on Wednesday, 7 August. This exam is a crucial step in their journey toward becoming licensed dentists.
The Comprehensive Exam is designed to assess students' abilities to conduct thorough examinations and develop appropriate management plans for various patient cases. During the exam, each student presents a case to two examiners. This is followed by an in-depth discussion and Q&A session.
“This Comprehensive Exam is very important as it serves as a benchmark for students' ability to apply the knowledge they have acquired during their clinical training,” said Dr. drg. Rurie Ratna Shantiningsih, MDSc., Head of the Dentist Profession Education Program at UGM.
After successfully passing the Comprehensive Exam, students will proceed with preparation activities for the Competency Examination for Dentist Profession Education Students (UKMPPD). The preparation includes two weeks of study guidance, national computer-based testing (CBT) try-outs, local Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) try-outs, and concludes with the national UKMP2DG exam.
“By participating in all these preparatory activities, we hope the students will be well-prepared for the national UKMP2DG exam,” Drg. Rurie added.
