3 Orthodontic Residents from FKG UGM Win Awards at OSCE in FKG UNAIR

Residents of the Orthodontic Study Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), have once again achieved remarkable success. The OSCE exam is a structured and objective method of assessing clinical competency. In the context of orthodontics, the OSCE exam evaluates residents' abilities to perform various clinical procedures, such as diagnosing orthodontic cases, treatment planning, and executing orthodontic interventions. This exam simulates real clinical situations, allowing for the measurement of residents' readiness for independent practice as orthodontic specialists.

The achievements were as follows:

  • 2nd Place: drg. Irene Sanita Lanny, MPH., Sp.Ort
  • 3rd Place: drg. Aulia Ayub, Sp.Ort
  • 4th Place: Dr. drg. Niswati Fathmah Rosyida, M.DSc., Sp.Ort

The Orthodontic Specialist Competency Exam included residents from various prestigious universities in Indonesia, such as Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Airlangga, and Universitas Hasanuddin. The assessments were conducted by lecturers and professors from various universities, including Universitas Sumatera Utara and Universitas Padjadjaran.

The Indonesian Orthodontic Association's College organized this exam, with FKG UNAIR serving as the host and local committee.

The dominant performance of the orthodontic residents from FKG UGM is a testament to the excellence of the education and training programs provided by FKG UGM. Their success is expected to motivate other students to continue enhancing their competencies and contribute to the advancement of orthodontics in Indonesia. Through this achievement, it is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), goal 3, good health and well-being, goal 4, quality education, and goal 5, gender equality.
