Residents from the Periodontics Specialist Study Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), have achieved remarkable success. At the 5th National Seminar on Periodontal Update organized by the Indonesian Periodontics Association (IPERI) in Medan, two UGM periodontics residents won the competition held on 20 July 2024.
Christopher Ernesto Budi won 1st place in the Case Report category, while Jessy Wijaya secured 1st place in the Research E-Poster Presentation category. With their excellent presentation skills, Christopher and Jessy managed to captivate the judges and outshine participants from various universities.
Jessy Wijaya, one of the winners, expressed her gratitude for representing FKG UGM in the competition and achieving the best results. She also shared that the support and prayers from her parents greatly contributed to her confidence and ability to present well.
“I would like to thank everyone who assisted me throughout the research, manuscript preparation, poster design, and presentation,” said Jessy. Her success has motivated her to continue learning and developing herself to be of benefit to her community.
The achievements of these two students are closely linked to the guidance of Prof. drg. Suryono, S.H., M.M., Ph.D., drg. Rezmelia Sari, M.Sc., Sp.Perio(K), drg. Vincensia Maria Karina, MDSc., Sp.Perio., SubSp.MP(K), and the head of the Periodontics Department at FKG UGM, drg. Kwartarini Murdiastuti, SP. Perio(K), Ph.D., enabling the students to present with confidence and poise.
The two-day seminar was attended by periodontics experts from various regions in Indonesia. Besides discussing the latest developments in periodontics, the seminar also served as a networking platform for IPERI members.
