Two UGM Dentistry Programs Undergo ASIIN Accreditation Evaluation

Two programs at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) have undergone accreditation evaluation by the Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Computer Science, the Natural Sciences, and Mathematics (ASIIN). The programs evaluated were the Dental Education Program and the Dental Profession Program. The ASIIN accreditation evaluation took place over two days, from 3 to 4 July 2024.

Prof. Dr. Wening Udasmoro, S.S., M.Hum., DEA, Vice Rector for Education and Teaching, noted that several UGM programs were first accredited by ASIIN in 2017. “Since then, UGM has continually encouraged programs to enhance various aspects. As of today, UGM has 33 programs accredited by ASIIN,” said Prof. Wening.

The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) is undergoing ASIIN accreditation to elevate educational standards and ensure that its programs meet international quality benchmarks.

The ASIIN accreditation process involved several assessors, including Dr. Hans Müller, Prof. Dr. Maria Schmidt, and Dr. John Davies. The assessors visited FKG UGM to review and verify whether the management of the programs aligns with the documentation provided.

The accreditation agenda included meetings between the assessors and program managers, discussions with students, interactions with stakeholders and alumni, as well as conversations with lecturers. These activities were conducted to confirm and clarify how the programs implement their educational activities. Additionally, a review of the facilities and infrastructure at FKG UGM was conducted.

ASIIN accreditation is crucial as it offers several significant benefits, including international recognition of educational quality, enhanced competitiveness of graduates, and opportunities for collaboration with global institutions. This aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) number 4: Quality Education and number 17: Partnerships to Achieve the Goal.

With the completion of the ASIIN accreditation, Universitas Gadjah Mada aims to continually improve the quality of education and produce graduates ready to compete internationally, while reinforcing its position as a leading educational institution in Indonesia.
