A total of 16 undergraduate students from the Dentistry Program of the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) underwent the graduation judicium on Monday, 21 April 2025. This judicium marks the end of their undergraduate studies and serves as the gateway to the professional education phase to become licensed dentists.
The Head of the Bachelor in Dentistry Study Program, drg. Aryan Morita, M.Sc., Ph.D., congratulated all the graduating students. "Congratulations! You have successfully completed one level of education. After this, you will enter the Dentist Profession Education Program," she said.
She added that completing the undergraduate level is the result of hard work that must be continued in the next phase. Aryan also reminded graduates not to become complacent, as the professional stage demands higher competence, particularly in clinical practice and direct patient care.
During the graduation judicium, Devita Wijaya Kusuma was recognized as the student with the highest GPA, achieving a score of 3.85. Devita expressed that her accomplishment was made possible through the support of many individuals and her consistent efforts.
"This journey hasn’t been easy, but many kind people helped me persevere. This judicium is not the endpoint, but the beginning of a deeper learning journey in the professional stage," she said.
The Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs of FKG UGM, Prof. Drg. Rosa Amalia, M.Kes., Ph.D., also delivered a message to the graduates. She emphasized that the professional program would expose students to real-life interactions with patients.
"In the professional phase, you will apply the theories learned during your undergraduate studies directly to patient care," said Rosa. She hoped that the graduates would maintain their enthusiasm for learning and collaborate professionally in clinical environments under the guidance of supervising dentists.
With the completion of their undergraduate studies, the judicium participants are now preparing to face a new dynamic phase in the dental profession. They are entering a critical stage that will shape their professional identity as future dentists.
