Department of Conservative Dentistry
Conservative Dentistry is the branch of dentistry which is concerned with the conservation of teeth in the mouth. It embraces the practice of operative dentistry and endodontics, and includes various kinds of direct and indirect restorations of individual teeth in the mouth. Primary goal of Department of Conservative Dentistry encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of squeal of dental caries and includes the techniques and procedures to restore the teeth to full function & appearance in an aesthetically Pleasing manner with as little loss of healthy tooth structure as possible. It also involves performing root canal treatment and associated surgical procedures to rid the tooth of its offending problem The treatment provided include various fillings, root canal treatment, surgical endodontics, endodontic implants, bleaching, and management of traumatized teeth. Endodontics, from the Greek endo (inside) and odons (tooth), deals with the tooth pulp and the tissues surrounding the root of a tooth. If the pulp (containing nerves, arterioles and venules as well as lymphatic tissue and fibrous tissue) has become diseased or injured, endodontic treatment is required to save the tooth. Meanwhile, restorative dentistry is the study of diagnosis and integrated management of diseases of the teeth, and the rehabilitation of the dentition to functional and aesthetic requirements of the individual. A lot of research has been done by our department, especially the studies on the latest materials, tools, and techniques used in endodontics and restorative dentistry.
