New Look for Taman Canina

The appearance of Taman Canina has changed significantly. This transformation is the result of a policy from the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), which has begun to reorganize the corners of its garden. One of the efforts made by the Faculty of Dentistry is to appoint a dedicated cleaning staff member to care for the garden and its plants.

Taman Canina serves as a central hub for the faculty. The garden looks beautiful and fresh, featuring brightly blooming bougainvillea right in the middle of the faculty building complex. The reorganization of this garden reflects a commitment to maintaining a clean and healthy environment, which is crucial for addressing air pollution and promoting well-being. This aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in ensuring sustainable consumption and production patterns. Additionally, the integration of green spaces not only enhances the beauty of the campus but also plays a vital role in improving air quality, which is essential for the health of the university community.

Another area of the garden features neatly arranged outdoor exercise equipment that is freely accessible to everyone, aiming to improve the health of the FKG community. Drg. Margareta Rinastiti, M.Kes, Ph.D, Sp.KG(K), Deputy Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources, emphasizes that the health of the community is vital for the smooth running of all Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi activities.

The garden is also equipped with well-arranged shaded seating areas. Many students use this space to discuss, complete assignments, and have lunch together. Observing this scene evokes a sense of peace, as students appear relaxed and cheerful.

The preparation and maintenance of facilities at the Faculty of Dentistry is one of the main targets in achieving UGM's TCK in 2024. This includes strengthening inclusive, sustainable, and environmentally-based infrastructure development. The commitment to sustainability is evident in every aspect of the garden's development, from plant selection to recreational space design.

Furthermore, the enhancements at Taman Canina are not solely about aesthetics; they form part of a broader strategy to promote a healthy lifestyle among students and staff. By providing access to green spaces and recreational facilities, FKG contributes to the physical and mental well-being of its community, which is crucial in today's fast-paced academic environment.

To improve the health and well-being of the community.

This initiative also reflects UGM's commitment to the SDGs, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure). By investing in green infrastructure and promoting healthy living, FKG sets an example for other faculties and institutions to follow.

As improvements continue, Taman Canina increasingly becomes a comfortable home for all campus residents. The integration of nature, sports, and social spaces creates an environment that fosters collaboration, creativity, and well-being. This transformation is a testament to the Faculty of Dentistry's dedication not only to educating future dental professionals but also to nurturing a healthy and sustainable campus culture.

In conclusion, the enhancements at Taman Canina FKG UGM represent a significant step toward achieving a greener, healthier, and more inclusive university environment. The ongoing efforts to improve facilities and promote sustainability are sure to benefit the entire UGM community in the future.
