Talkshow "Opening Windows, Seeing the World" Encourages Transformation and Synergy in the Disruption Era

On Tuesday, 26 November 2024, the Faculty of Dentistry at Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) held a talk show titled "Opening Windows, Seeing the World" at the Margono Soradji Building, 3rd Floor. The event featured Prof. Dr. Setiadi, S.Sos., M.Si., as the keynote speaker, moderated by drg. Margareta Rinastiti, M.Kes., Sp.KG. Subsp.KR(K)., Ph.D. The Dean of FKG UGM, Prof. drg. Suryono, SH., MM., Ph.D., officially opened the event, delivering an inspiring message on the importance of stepping out of one's comfort zone and embracing transformation to navigate global changes.

"Do not stay in your comfort zone. We must be adaptive and transformative to seize opportunities. Our mindset should prioritize institutional interests rather than just personal goals," said Prof. Suryono. He also emphasized the need to avoid fragmentation within organizations to ensure harmony and synergy in all aspects.

During the discussion session, Prof. Setiadi elaborated on the various challenges of the disruption era, including disruptive regulations, organizational culture shifts, and the negative effects of hustle culture. He highlighted the need for strong motivation in difficult situations and the importance of synergy in achieving a shared vision. "The hardest part is staying motivated in tough situations, especially when external support is lacking or top-down targets feel overwhelming," he noted.

Audience questions raised concerns about segregation and divisions within institutions, which often hinder cross-group collaboration. In response, Prof. Setiadi emphasized the importance of fostering an inclusive mindset and prioritizing collective goals. "We must create an inclusive environment and raise awareness that the institution's success is our shared success. Leaders should set an example by uniting individuals beyond specific interests," he explained.

The talk show concluded with a closing message from Prof. Suryono, who stressed the importance of valuing the process rather than just focusing on results. "Enjoy the effort, not just the outcome. We must uplift each other through hard work, always keeping the institution’s interests in mind," he asserted.

This talk show served as a moment of reflection and motivation for participants, encouraging them to face global challenges with synergy and a stronger commitment to upholding the values of FKG UGM.

The discussion on institutional transformation and adaptation to change reflects a commitment to enhancing the quality of education and academic organization, supporting Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education.

Additionally, the dialogue on workplace culture challenges, such as hustle cultureand the need for synergy in creating a healthy and productive work environment, aligns with SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth.
