Staff from the Department of Oral Diseases, FKG UGM Participate in Curriculum Innovation Training to Enhance the Quality of Medical Education

In an effort to improve the quality of medical education and adopt the latest innovations in the field, two staff members from the Department of Oral Diseases (IPM) at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), Dr. Hendri Susanto, M.Kes., Ph.D., Sp. PM, and Dr. Fimma Naritasari, MDSc., participated in the “Curriculum Innovation Training for Specialist Medical Education Program-1.” 

This training was organized by the Department of Medical Education and Bioethics at the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) UGM on 2-3 May 2024. Thirty participants from various medical education institutions and healthcare professions across Indonesia attended.

The training was designed in accordance with the Specialist Medical Education Program-1 Standards set by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology as part of a series of activities to implement the new curriculum. 

The participants received training on various principles of modern curriculum design, including the Student-Centered Learning (SCL) approach, which emphasizes the active role of students in the teaching and learning process. 

Additionally, the training highlighted the importance of integrating digital technology in learning, aligning with the global trend towards the digitalization of education.

Furthermore, the training served as a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences among educators from various institutions, enriching participants' perspectives on innovative ways to improve the quality of medical education. 

Thus, participation in this training is part of the commitment of the IPM Department at FKG UGM to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in achieving Goal 4 (Quality Education). 

Through enhancing education quality and curriculum innovation, FKG UGM aims to prepare more competent medical professionals who are ready to face the challenges of the future healthcare landscape.
