Universitas Gadjah Mada Press released its latest book titled “Testing in the Development of Dental Polymers” on 7 January 2024. This book is the result of a collaboration between experts from the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), including Prof. Dr. drg. Widowati Siswomihardjo, MS, Prof. Dr. drg. Widjijono, SU, and Prof. Dr. drg. Siti Sunarintyas, M.Kes. from the Department of Dental Biomaterials Science. The writing team also collaborated with Dr. drg. Wignyo Hadriyanto, M.S., Sp.KG(K), FICD from the Department of Dental Conservation and Puput Iin Qur’aini, M.Biotech from Universitas Muria Kudus.
This book serves as a comprehensive guide that explores various aspects related to polymers in dentistry, ranging from material development to in-vitro laboratory testing methods. One interesting aspect highlighted is the use of in-silico testing, which involves computer simulations to predict and enhance the performance of dental materials.
“The primary goal of this book is to provide a thorough guide for dentists, educators, students, and researchers regarding the development and testing of polymer materials in dentistry. We hope this book becomes an important reference for both clinical applications and advanced research in the field of biomaterials,” said Prof. Dr. drg. Widowati Siswomihardjo.
Additionally, the involvement of students as part of the editorial team supports the Merdeka Belajar – Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program by enriching their practical learning experience. This book reflects FKG UGM's support for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), contributing to the improvement of healthcare quality and the advancement of research-driven industries.
