The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM) conducted a benchmarking visit to the Faculty of Medicine, Public Health, and Nursing (FK-KMK) UGM on 9 July 2024. The visit aimed to improve laboratory management quality.
Attendees from FKG UGM included the Head of the Preclinical and Skillslab Laboratories, Head of the Administration Office, Academic Coordinator, and laboratory staff. The visit was warmly welcomed by the leadership and staff of FK-KMK UGM.
In his welcoming speech, dr. Ahmad Hamim Sadewa, Ph.D., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs at FK-KMK UGM, expressed hope that the visit would bring significant benefits to both parties. “This visit is expected to yield better outcomes by optimizing human resources, facilities, and infrastructure,” said Hamim.
Meanwhile, drg. Ivan Arie Wahyudi, M.Kes., Ph.D., Head of the Preclinical and Skillslab Laboratories at FKG UGM, expressed gratitude for the opportunity provided by FK-KMK UGM. “We are very thankful for the opportunity to learn about laboratory management practices from FK-KMK UGM. We hope to apply the knowledge gained to enhance laboratory quality at FKG UGM,” said Ivan.
The visit began with discussions on laboratory management, mechanisms for distributing and storing materials, and waste disposal procedures, especially concerning animal testing. The visit continued with tours of several laboratories at FK-KMK UGM.
This visit is expected to strengthen collaboration between FKG UGM and FK-KMK UGM in laboratory management. With the exchange of knowledge and experience, it is anticipated that the quality of laboratories at both faculties will improve, thereby supporting educational and research activities.
