Carrying the theme <em>\u201cBeyond the Gingiva: How Modern Periodontal Innovations Elevate Multidisciplinary Clinical Solutions,\u201d<\/em>the scientific forum emphasized the strategic role of periodontology as the backbone of future clinical dental solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The presentation delivered by Vincensia Maria Karina, DDS, MDSc., Sp.Perio introduced various cutting-edge breakthroughs, ranging from tissue engineering based on 3D printing technology to the integration of artificial intelligence in diagnostics. These innovations not only strengthen the structural stability and biological homeostasis of periodontal tissues, but also comprehensively improve patient aesthetics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>drg. Viki, as she is commonly known, emphasized that technological advances have transformed periodontal treatment paradigms from merely curative approaches into highly precise regenerative care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are no longer simply treating tissue damage; we are now able to regenerate tissue through highly personalized approaches. Technologies such as <em>3D-printed scaffolds<\/em> enable therapies truly tailored to patient morphology,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One major highlight was the use of <em>3D-printed personalized scaffolds<\/em> . By utilizing patients\u2019 CBCT radiographic data, scaffolds can be precisely designed to match bone defect morphology. These materials can even be combined with <em>growth factors<\/em> and <em>stem cells<\/em>, significantly accelerating tissue regeneration compared with conventional methods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition, the development of <em>smart biomaterials<\/em> with <em>controlled-release<\/em> systems opens new opportunities for more effective and sustainable therapies. These innovations ensure active substances are released in a controlled manner, thereby improving periodontal tissue healing outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"752\" height=\"393\" data-id=\"18088\" src=\"https:\/\/fkg.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2026\/04\/image-93.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18088\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fkg.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2026\/04\/image-93.jpeg 752w, https:\/\/fkg.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2026\/04\/image-93-300x157.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/fkg.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2026\/04\/image-93-18x9.jpeg 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 752px) 100vw, 752px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In her presentation, Dr. Viki also emphasized the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in modern clinical practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cPeriodontology cannot stand alone. Collaboration with orthodontics, endodontics, as well as systemic medicine and radiology is essential for delivering comprehensive solutions to patients,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Such collaboration is increasingly strengthened through digital technology integration. The use of <em>Digital Periodontal Charting<\/em>, online risk assessment systems, and artificial intelligence for radiographic analysis has become part of a major transformation toward data-driven dentistry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Furthermore, innovations such as laser-assisted periodontal therapy and the exploration of robotics in periodontal surgery demonstrate a future direction that is increasingly sophisticated and minimally invasive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"751\" height=\"939\" data-id=\"18087\" src=\"https:\/\/fkg.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2026\/04\/image-92.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-18087\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fkg.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2026\/04\/image-92.jpeg 751w, https:\/\/fkg.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2026\/04\/image-92-240x300.jpeg 240w, https:\/\/fkg.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2026\/04\/image-92-10x12.jpeg 10w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 751px) 100vw, 751px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The 78th anniversary celebration not only reflected the long journey of the UGM Faculty of Dentistry since its establishment in 1948, but also reaffirmed the institution\u2019s commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and oral healthcare services in Indonesia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe want to ensure that innovations developed in laboratories truly translate into real improvements in people\u2019s quality of life,\u201d drg.
