The Dental Learning Center (DLC) building of the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada, underwent the Final Assessment stage of the Greenship Green Building Certification conducted by the Green Building Council Indonesia (GBCI) on 18 November 2025. This process marks an important step toward official recognition as an environmentally friendly building that meets national green building standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. drg. Heni Susilowati, Coordinator of the Dental Learning Center Management, stated that the final assessment serves as a crucial moment to strengthen the faculty\u2019s commitment to implementing efficient, healthy, and sustainable green building principles within the educational environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe welcome this assessment process enthusiastically, as it provides a valuable opportunity to evaluate how far green building principles have been implemented at the DLC. We have consistently promoted green behavior among the entire academic community so that the green building concept becomes part of our work culture,\u201d said Prof. drg. Heni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She further acknowledged that there are still aspects that need improvement, and through this verification process, the faculty hopes to receive constructive input to strengthen and sustain implementation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The assessment was carried out by a verification team from PT Sertifikasi Bangunan Hijau, the official institution responsible for on-site and document assessments. Doddy Alfasah, Senior Certification Officer, along with the technical team, conducted direct inspections of facilities, utilities, energy systems, water management, ventilation, and green areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The verification team identified several important notes. While waste segregation systems are already in place, some areas require reorganization of locations and signage to improve accessibility and information clarity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe observed that sensor lights in stairway areas remain on continuously even when natural lighting is sufficient, indicating that energy efficiency potential has not been fully optimized. In addition, the placement and type of fire extinguishers (APAR) need adjustment to ensure suitability with risk types and to improve staff understanding of their use,\u201d Doddy explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Based on the findings, the team recommended follow-up actions, including improving waste management systems by clarifying categories and collection points, correcting sensor light settings to ensure optimal automation, and reorganizing and labeling APAR according to type (CO\u2082, dry powder, or foam) for easier identification. Education and awareness enhancement for operational staff were also proposed to strengthen daily green behavior practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Doddy stated that field observations, document completeness, and improvement recommendations will form the basis for the final evaluation panel before the official certificate is issued. If all Greenship criteria are met, the DLC FKG UGM building will become one of Indonesia\u2019s dental education institutions with certified green building-standard facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
