If left untreated, it can lead to tooth loss and systemic complications. Therefore, effective prevention and management strategies are crucial.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" translation-block\">As an example of advanced case management, the article \u201cStudi Kasus Perawatan Periodontal Pasca Abses Periodontal\u201d illustrates that following a periodontal abscess, comprehensive therapy\u2014both local and systemic\u2014must be followed by appropriate follow-up care to prevent recurrence and preserve the affected tooth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This article reviews the key steps in preventing periodontal disease, as well as optimal management approaches based on periodontal abscess cases and supporting literature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Prevention of Periodontal Disease<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Periodontal prevention can be categorized into three stages: primary, secondary, and tertiary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. <strong>Primary Prevention (Early Preventive Stage)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Objective: To prevent bacterial plaque formation and early inflammation (gingivitis).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Strategies include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Daily Oral Hygiene<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Brushing teeth twice daily using proper technique<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cleaning interdental spaces with dental floss or interdental brushes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use of mouthwash (e.g., chlorhexidine) as an adjunct when necessary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Routine Professional Examination and Cleaning<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Periodic scaling and tartar removal (e.g., every 6\u201312 months)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Early detection of signs of gingivitis or periodontal tissue damage<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Control of Risk Factors<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Addressing smoking habits, high sugar consumption, diabetes control, and stress<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Patient education regarding periodontal disease risks and treatment compliance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reducing plaque through a healthy diet and good oral habits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>2. <strong>Secondary and Tertiary Prevention<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Secondary prevention<\/strong>: Implemented when periodontal disease has already developed (e.g., gingivitis or early periodontitis) to prevent progression to severe tissue destruction. This includes scaling and root planing (SRP), plaque control, reassessment, and monitoring.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tertiary prevention<\/strong>: Aims to prevent complications or recurrence after definitive treatment, such as preventing occlusal trauma, using retainers or stabilization devices, and maintaining strict oral hygiene control.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Management of Periodontal Disease<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Management approaches depend on disease severity and include non-surgical therapy, surgical intervention, and post-complication care such as periodontal abscess management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1.
