Orthognathic-D(K) from the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Faculty of Dentistry, Hasanuddin University, as the main speaker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Over five days, participants consisting of academics, professional students, and clinical practitioners received comprehensive updates on theories, modern concepts, and clinical implications in dental implantology. The materials covered the historical development of dental implants, determinants of osseointegration success, and the latest innovations in implant technology and surface coatings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Dental Implants: From Past to Future<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the introductory session, Prof. Ruslin outlined the evolution of dental implantology, from early concepts to modern technologies utilizing biocompatible biomaterials. He explained the fundamental differences between natural tooth support and implant support, emphasizing the importance of understanding osseointegration\u2014the direct structural and functional connection between bone and implant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cImplant success is determined not only by the material, but also by shape, microstructure, surgical technique, and the patient\u2019s systemic condition,\u201d Prof. Ruslin explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Coating Innovations and Biomaterial Trends<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" translation-block\">One of the key topics that drew strong interest was the development of implant surface coatings to enhance osseointegration, stability, and antibacterial properties. Prof. Ruslin presented various types of coatings, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Hydroxyapatite coatings to enhance bone formation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Growth factors such as TGF, PDGF, VEGF, and BMP to accelerate regeneration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Extracellular matrix (ECM) to optimize cell migration<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Antimicrobial and drug-coated implants, including bisphosphonate, tetracycline, and vancomycin<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Polysaccharide-based antibacterial coatings effective against various oral bacteria<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Prof. Ruslin, these innovations are key to improving implant predictability, especially in patients with complex bone conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image alignwide size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"752\" height=\"327\" src=\"https:\/\/fkg.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2025\/11\/image-7.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-16071\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fkg.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2025\/11\/image-7.jpeg 752w, https:\/\/fkg.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2025\/11\/image-7-300x130.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/fkg.ugm.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/30\/2025\/11\/image-7-18x8.jpeg 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 752px) 100vw, 752px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Clinical Techniques and Case Discussions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the clinical session, participants reviewed three real cases:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Single implant placement in mild alveolar resorption<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Multiple implants in advanced bone resorption<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\" translation-block\">Ridge splitting technique for horizontal augmentation and immediate implant placement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\" translation-block\">Using before-and-after documentation, Prof. Ruslin explained strategic case planning, surgical techniques, and post-treatment evaluation.
