In addition to undergraduate programs, the Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) of Universitas Gadjah Mada also offers excellent postgraduate programs with a strong research orientation. One of them is the Master\u2019s Program in Dental Sciences (S2 IKG). Under the leadership of Prof. Dr. drg. Juni Handajani, M.Kes., Ph.D., PBO, this program is designed to develop dental education based on translational research and innovation with a tangible impact on society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Prof. Juni, the Master\u2019s Program in Dental Sciences is an important part of FKG UGM\u2019s commitment to preparing high-quality human resources in the field of dental health. \u201cWe aim to produce graduates who not only master scientific knowledge, but are also able to transform that knowledge into real solutions for society. The Master\u2019s Program in Dental Sciences at FKG UGM is designed to address challenges arising from developments in science and technology in the field of dentistry. Through a hybrid<\/em>learning system, students gain flexibility in learning without compromising academic quality. The involvement of expert lecturers from abroad further enriches the learning process and broadens students\u2019 international perspectives. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in internship programs overseas, which add value by deepening research experience and building professional networks at the global level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Four Areas of Specialization<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n To respond to increasingly specific academic needs in the field of dentistry, the Master\u2019s Program in Dental Sciences at FKG UGM offers four main areas of specialization. The first is Biomaterials, which focuses on the development of modern dental materials that support more effective and sustainable treatments. Through this specialization, students are guided to understand how material technology plays a crucial role in improving the quality of future dental care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Next is Oral Biology, which explores the biological foundations of oral tissues to understand the body\u2019s mechanisms in maintaining dental and oral health. This specialization serves as an important foundation for the development of regenerative dentistry research, which is increasingly in demand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n For those interested in combining science with clinical practice, the MKGPP specialization (Dental Materials and Prosthodontics) offers an integration of theory and application in the planning and fabrication of precise and functional dental prosthetics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Meanwhile, the MMPKG specialization (Management of Dental Services and Dental Health) focuses on strategies for managing dental health services, encompassing aspects of policy, clinic management, and service quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Prof. Juni added, \u201cEach specialization is designed so that students can contribute according to their respective fields. Some are more focused on material research, while others concentrate on health service management. All are directed toward strengthening a collaborative and future-oriented dental ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Testimonials<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Throughout their studies, students not only learn theory, but are also actively involved in research and community service. This was experienced by I Wayan Gita Pratama, a 2022 cohort student from the Dental Health Service Management (MKGP) specialization. He admitted that he gained a great deal of new knowledge regarding developments in dental science and dental health. \u201cThis program truly trains my research skills. All the knowledge I have gained is very useful for career development as well as for continuing education to the next level,\u201d he said. He also encouraged prospective students not to hesitate to join the Master\u2019s Program in Dental Sciences at FKG UGM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A similar sentiment was expressed by I Gede Krisna Marta Yoga, a student from the Biomaterials specialization.
