The Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada (FKG UGM), continues to improve its systems in preparation for the latest accreditation process. One important step currently being implemented is the application of Outcome-Based Assessment<\/em> (OBA) across all postgraduate study programs, ranging from Specialist (SP), Master\u2019s (S2), to Doctoral (S3) programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This effort is realized through the Workshop on Completing the SI-OBA Dashboard, attended by Heads of Study Programs. In this activity, lecturers practiced directly entering and mapping curriculum data into the Simaster system. This step is part of the adjustment to new accreditation standards that emphasize the importance of Outcome-Based Education <\/em>(OBE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to drg. Aryan Morita, M.Sc., Ph.D., Chair of the Dental Education Study Program, the implementation of OBA has become crucial due to significant changes in the accreditation process.
\u201cPreviously, Specialist and Postgraduate study programs were not required to develop OBA. Now, assessments must be demonstrable through this system or through a portfolio,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added that the main function of OBA is to assess the extent to which Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLO) have been achieved by each student. With this system, assessment becomes more transparent and measurable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop also served as a continuation of a preliminary meeting held two months earlier. This time, the Heads of Study Programs not only studied the concept, but also directly structured and adjusted grading weights and curriculum maps within the system. This activity also became an important stage in setting graduation targets before the new academic year begins. \u201cThe data entered into Simaster and SI-OBA will later serve as valid evidence demonstrating the readiness and quality of the study programs,\u201d explained drg. Aryan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Furthermore, he explained that the main components within the OBA system include Graduate Learning Outcomes (GLO), Course Learning Outcomes (CLO), and detailed assessment components such as assignments, examinations, and quizzes. All of these elements must be linked to individual student scores so that each student\u2019s achievement can be clearly identified.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although OBA data entry is conducted every semester, drg. Aryan recommended that core components such as GLO and curriculum mapping be prepared for a full academic year to ensure greater consistency. \u201cFor this workshop, the focus was on the previous even semester, which has already been completed. Meanwhile, the odd semester is still ongoing, so its scores cannot yet be fully entered,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through the implementation of the OBA system, FKG UGM hopes that all academic quality data can be well documented. In this way, the faculty will be better prepared to face the accreditation process and ensure that each study program continues to maintain the quality of learning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
