This accreditation is recognized by ASIIN, a Germany-based accreditation body responsible for accrediting study programs in the fields of engineering, informatics, natural sciences, and mathematics.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a long and winding journey since 2022\u2014starting with the establishment of the committee and preparation of the required documents for ASIIN international accreditation, followed by a series of evaluations in 2024 covering various aspects including education quality, curriculum, supporting facilities, and graduate competency achievements\u2014finally, in July 2025, the Bachelor in Dentistry Program and the Dentist Profession Education Program of FKG UGM officially received full ASIIN international accreditation, achieving <em>Level 6 of The European Qualifications Framework for Life Long Learning<\/em> (EQF LLL) for the 2025\u20132030 period, after fulfilling revisions from the provisional recognition in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Bachelor in Dentistry Program \u2013 ASIIN 2025\u20132030<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe nearly 4-year journey to achieve ASIIN results has been long, complex, and required great perseverance,\u201d explained Drg. Aryan Morita, M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Bachelor in Dentistry Program at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universitas Gadjah Mada. The international accreditation process began with applying for an international accreditation grant. Preparing a concise assessment report with supporting data was a challenge. The dean appointed a <em>task force<\/em> leader to compile the report. <em>Benchmarking<\/em> was conducted at European universities with dental faculties, namely <em>Groningen University and Leuven University<\/em> , in 2023 as part of ASIIN preparations. The goal was to find similarities and potential collaboration in the curriculum and Tri Dharma Higher Education activities. Evaluation results were used for improvement through <em>self-assessment<\/em> and submission of documents to UGM\u2019s Quality Assurance and Reputation Unit (SPMRU) before being sent to ASIIN.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Dentist Profession Education Program \u2013 ASIIN 2025\u20132030<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAll aspects of the study program synergized, enabling us to address all elements of the assessors\u2019 evaluation, with a key focus on continuous improvement and enhancement, especially in preparation and achievement for ASIIN 2025\u20132030,\u201d stated Dr. drg. Rurie Ratna Shantiningsih, MDSc., Head of the Dentist Profession Education Program, FKG UGM. The continuity between the Bachelor in Dentistry Program and the Dentist Profession Education Program strongly supports learning outcomes to produce competent dentists in Indonesia. The Dentist Profession Education Program at FKG UGM continues to pursue improvements in every aspect on an ongoing basis. Students are facilitated to enrich their knowledge not only locally within the university but also encouraged to participate in various national and international activities. Lecturers are also invited to remain open to global changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The biggest challenge faced by the Dentist Profession Education Program during the accreditation process was that it coincided with the LAM-PTKes accreditation, requiring extraordinary <em>effort<\/em> . However, strong support from all lecturers greatly helped in carrying out every stage optimally. The strategy involved strengthening cooperation and commitment between the Head of the Bachelor Program and the Profession Education Program, under the clear leadership of Drg. Heribertus Dedy Kusuma Yulianto, M.Biotech., Ph.D., with strong support from the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. drg. Rosa Amalia, M.Kes., Ph.D., particularly in achieving ASIIN accreditation for the 2025\u20132030 period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><em>Double Crown<\/em><\/strong> <strong>for FKG UGM<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are two study programs at FKG that have achieved international accreditation: the Bachelor in Dentistry Program and the Dentist Profession Education Program. UGM aims to secure both national excellence accreditation and international accreditation. Drg. Heribertus Dedy Kusuma Yulianto, M.Biotech., Ph.D., was appointed as team leader by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Prof. drg. Rosa Amalia, M.Kes., Ph.D., with support from FKG\u2019s Quality Assurance Unit, led by Dr. Dyah Listyarifah, M.Sc., D.Med.Sci. The journey toward ASIIN accreditation was a collaborative effort involving the entire academic community. Lecturers and students were engaged in data confirmation processes, with lecturers providing essential data and undergraduate students as well as <em>co-assistants<\/em> contributing feedback on their study experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The main challenge for developing the Dentistry Program lies in maintaining and improving the program\u2019s quality. FKG UGM also offers an international undergraduate program (IUP), which is expected to provide greater benefits for students and the teaching-learning process. International accreditation opens opportunities to bring in guest lecturers from abroad. It also increases the number of international guest lectures and <em>student exchange<\/em> programs with top global universities. \u201cSeveral state universities in Indonesia have achieved international accreditation, such as Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Brawijaya, and Universitas Hasanuddin. Nearly all dental faculties in Indonesia are accredited by ASIIN,\u201d said drg. Aryan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>FKG was not alone in pursuing ASIIN accreditation. The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) also strived for the same. ASIIN required synchronization between UGM\u2019s regulations and the Organizational Structure &amp; Governance (SOTK) of FKG and FKH, since both professions\u2014dentists and veterinarians\u2014are closely related. The SPMRU and ASIIN visitation preparations involved UGM\u2019s SPMRU as a representative for FKG UGM, receiving feedback before the '<em>pre-visit<\/em>\u2019 to finalize preparations. The Bachelor in Dentistry Program and Dentist Profession Education Program underwent intensive preparations in June 2024. \u201cNational and international accreditation processes ran in parallel, as UGM aimed for both national excellence accreditation and international accreditation,\u201d explained the Head of the Bachelor in Dentistry Program at FKG UGM. The preparation of national and international accreditation documents was done simultaneously, as the national accreditation was set to expire in September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clarification of Findings in Foreign Verification\nThe foreign verification process involved several clarification stages after the initial closing phase. The first clarification took place during the university closing session, where findings were presented. An official report was sent a few months later, containing findings and recommendations to be addressed. Follow-up actions were taken on recommendations and findings from the site visit to ensure optimal results. A one-year trial period was granted to fulfill pending requirements. The <em>task force<\/em>carefully reviewed each point, particularly findings related to the professional program. Recognition and fulfillment of standards through professional acknowledgment were key elements. Regular meetings were held, inviting both faculties to review findings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the ASIIN certificate, it is stated that <em>The Degree is aligned to Level 6 of The European Qualification Framework for Life Long Learning<\/em>, meaning that national qualifications are equivalent to Level 6 for bachelor\u2019s degrees, Level 7 or 8 for master\u2019s, and Level 8 for doctoral degrees. The Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) is thus aligned with European standards, with KKNI Level 6 indicating quality equivalence. ASIIN ensures that accredited higher education programs meet international academic and professional standards, with a focus on teaching quality, curriculum relevance, and graduate readiness to contribute both academically and clinically at the global level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>Author: Andri
